When you are feeling very good and imagining stuff that may not be real. When you are trying to appreciate yourself too much and expect it will happen from others. When you think you are better than anyone or richer than anyone. Especially, when you are angry at someone.
Make a list of incidents in the past where you failed. It can be fair or unfair but make sure you list it down. Write instances where you missed fulfilling a duty or did not pay attention or did not meet a goal or did not win. Write down instances where people went away from you. Write down instances where you hurt somebody. Write down instances where you cheated. Write it in coded words that you can understand well, but will be ambiguous to others and retain it.
When the list is ready, read it.
On the other hand.
When you are felling bad about yourself, when you are down. When you do not have enough energy in your body. When you feel beaten up, cheated. When you feel depressed, lost and have no hopes of tomorrow. When you cannot get out of a worrying thought. When anything you do is not making you face tomorrow.
Make a list of appreciations you got in the past. Even if many people were part of it, write about something you did and the good intention behind it. Write the list of people who feel good to be with you. Write about an act you did that helped somebody. Write about situations you defused and made people happy. Write about things you are proud about yourself.
Read it when its ready.
Surprisingly, the list of things we worried about are not so bad and the list of things we did good are worth living for. Invariably we would have stopped following something good we used to do. Stay grounded. Stay good. It pays back without fail.
